FSD2 Announcements

  • Good evening.  Today, South Carolina Governor Henry McMaster and State Superintendent of Education Molly Spearman released a joint statement announcing that South Carolina’s schools will remain closed for the duration of the month of April.

Please see an excerpt from the press release below.

“At this time, students, parents, and families should plan for South Carolina’s schools to remain closed through the month of April.  Our dedicated teachers and school administrators have done a tremendous job in making it possible for our students to learn at home.  We understand that the prospect of schools remaining closed for an extended period of time places stress and strain on parents and children.  Rest assured, if there is any way to safely open our schools earlier, we will do that, but schools must remain closed to protect the health and safety of South Carolinians.”

In reference to this closure, our principals and teachers are currently working on an expanded eLearning plan to take us through the end of April.  For now, please have students continue completing the current eLearning packets distributed last week and Google Classroom assignments.  We will share the updated eLearning plan by the end of this week after additional guidance is provided from the State Department of Education.

We will continue to provide meals for students.  We are changing the meal pickup schedule from Monday-Friday to Monday-Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.  On Thursdays, breakfasts and lunches will be provided for Thursday and Friday.

WiFi is provided on campus at the district office, elementary/middle school, and high school in addition to the Pamplico Library.  If you are using these options, please have students work from vehicles.  WiFi on state buses will also be available during meal pickups.

All students in grades 3-12 should access Gmail and Google Classroom at least once a week.  Students need this access to download assignments or to turn in completed work.  If internet access is not possible, please contact the schools for assistance.

Looking ahead, we will still hold Spring Break (April 10-17, 2020).  The high school graduation is still scheduled for May 29, 2020, and the high school prom will be rescheduled.  We will announce all rescheduled events once schools are reopened.

Please visit our website (www.fsd2.org) or social media for COVID-19 updates.

We will continue to ensure educational opportunities for every student.  Please call on us if you need assistance or have any questions.
